Two Weeks Post Operation I had my dressings removed – what a relief. I’m surprised on how well my scarring is – Dr M had made an inframammary incision. The breast tissue is minimally disturbed with this incision and the scar is concealed within the fold of skin under the breast. It has just left a light red line approx 2 inches long, which will eventually turn to white. My first shower lasted nearly two hours long – it was heaven. All my bruising has gone, but I still have daily soreness in both my breasts. The only way I can explain this soreness is it is like a raw feeling, not a pain, but sore to touch – the nurse says it is my nerves and muscles in my breasts repairing. I have been out driving, which I must admit I was nervous at first, but now I’m fine. The seat belt irritates my breasts and I am aware that I try to push it above my breasts to prevent this. I can now sleep flat but I still need small cushions under my breasts to support them. Someone told me to roll up a clean flannel and place it between my breasts when I want to sleep on my side – I laughed when they told me this, but it actually helps!!! I have also realised that I can now sneeze without it hurting my chest, but I cannot reach the top rail when hanging my clothes in the wardrobe or the top shelf when reaching in the food cupboard. I have done some ironing which was not hard but I did find that I got tired easily. My daughter on recognising this took over and finished it – this is one of the luxuries that I appreciate and have accepted without an argument, as I hate ironing. I have begun to try out all of my clothes and I am not sure whether my breasts are too big. The nurse disagreed with me and told me that once my breasts settle and the swelling goes down my breasts will appear a little smaller. My husband and daughter agree with the nurse and have tried to reassure me. I will soon know when I am approx 6-8 weeks post op, as the Dr has said it takes this long for them to settle. I have been looking at all the pretty bra’s, can’t wait to buy some. The support bra’s that I’m wearing at the moment are like scaffolding to me – horrendous!!!! I have finally gone back to work, I was a little nervous as I wasn’t sure whether anyone would notice. Although to be truthful, I did make sure I wore loose shirts to avoid speculation. Maybe next week I may be daring enough to wear my jumpers and t-shirts that will accentuate my breasts - I haven’t just paid nearly £4000 to hide them LOL!!! I have an appointment to see Dr M in 6 weeks. |
