Day One Post Operation

Day One after the Operation

I woke by 5am. I think it was because I had just slept for 24 hours+++. I felt very refreshed.

Although I am a little bruised and swollen I feel great. I have only needed to have the occasional paracetamol and ibuprofen. I can’t believe it – I thought I wouldn’t be able to move!!! I can’t stop looking at my breasts, I think they look great. I’m surprised on how soft they are already; I thought they would be really hard for a while.

Dr M came in to review me and he was very pleased with the result. I discussed about my loss of nipple sensation and he says that is normal and hopefully that should return gradually over time (it can take up to 12 months for breast sensation to return). He told me that I have to wear a support bra day and night for the next 6- 8 weeks – I was sure that was not going to be a problem. I was advised by the pre-assessment nurse to buy a D cup – how exciting… He discharged me and said that I could go home. I was released with emergency information in case I needed to contact someone and with a certificate for my implants e.g serial number, make and size. This certificate is important apparently in case there was a problem with the implants in the future.

I must admit the journey home was a little uncomfortable – every crack and bump on the roads became very obvious!!! Not complaining though, I was just relieved that all went well and I was back at home. My husband was brilliant, he had made sure that I had everything at easy reach; I didn’t have to ask for anything – bliss!!!
